How To Calcuate How Much Overhang There Will be With the Thule Force XT XL Rooftop Cargo Box

Question:

What is the distance from the front of the box to forward-most spot you can clamp to the crossbar? I am trying to figure out how much overhang the box would have on the roof of my 23 Honda Ridgeline

In regards to the Thule Force XT XL Rooftop Cargo Box part # TH6358B, you will need to install this so that the roof box is centered between the crossbars. This will ensure you have the best weight distribution possible allowing you to reach the full protentional of the box. Furthermore, when loading the box you'll need to place 1/2 of the cargo in the center and the remaining 1/2 of the cargo split between the front and rear. In regards to overhang, we don't have exact measurements to provide unfortunately but the cargo box measures 82-3/4" long so if you subtract the crossbar spread of your roof rack you should be able to get an ideal of the overhang. For example, if you take the 82-3/4" length of the cargo box and subtract a 30" crossbar spread that leaves you with 52-3/4". If you then split this in half between the front and rear you'll have an approximate overhang of 26-3/8".
