Determining The Correct Brake Assemblies For A 2007 Karavan SeaDoo Trailer
Question:
Hello I have a 2007 Karavan SeaDoo trailer, I would like to add brakes, The boat weight is 1500 lbs, can you suggest your best option for this application. I would need to weld new spindles on as I do not have the 4 bolt bracket. Thank you

The brake kit needed is going to depend on the axle capacity. Most likely you'll have a 2k axle so once you have new spindles welded on with a brake flange the etrailer Electric Trailer Brake Kit # AKEBRK-2 would be a great option to install. Keep in mind that there is a lefthand and righthand to these assemblies (small brake pad will face towards the trailer tongue).
Once you have your brake assemblies in place you'll need to swap out the old idler hubs for a hub and drum kit. The fitment for these will depend on the bolt pattern for your wheels so you'll want to measure to ensure proper fitment. Once you have the bolt pattern you can narrow down your choices a bit and I highly recommend going with a pre-greased one to save yourself the time and mess of packing the bearings.
For example, if you had a 5 on 4-1/2 bolt pattern and your spindle requires L44649 bearings you could use the etrailer Easy Grease Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly # AKHD-545-2-EZ-2K, which will also come with a regular and EZ-Lube dust cap, if you choose to get EZ-Lube spindles welded on.
If you have anymore questions please let me know.
