Weight Capacity Options for Dual Motor 5th Wheel Landing Gear Legs
Question:
I bought a set of Reese dual motor landing gear for my 5th wheel. I think I bought the 8k lb set instead of the 12klb. My question is, can I just buy bigger motors and replace or is the landing gear assy. different as well. if I can just buy bigger motors, what is the part number?

The Reese Electric 5th Wheel Landing Gear Set part # RP500708 is only offered in one capacity, 8,000 lbs. That said, we do have another similar set with dual motors which offers a higher weight capacity in the Ultra-Fab Deluxe Electric Landing Gear Set part # UF17-943010. These are rated for up to 12,000 lbs. There is no way to upgrade the capacity of either kit unfortunately.
Please note, the bracket spacing is not the same between these two kits so if you move forward with the higher rated option you would need to cut and re-weld new brackets on the trailer.
