Troubleshooting Hydrastar Brake Actuator Not Working
Question:
How do I check it? There isn’t a stick or sight glass. Breaks have quit working and I hoping it’s just the fluid. If it is low, what fluid should I use? Thanks

Checking the fluid level of the Hydrastar actuators like part # HBA-12 is just a matter of removing lid on top and looking to see if it's full or not. But based on what you described it doesn't sound like that is the issue. Low fluid is typically related to a delayed response and not no performance at all.
Most likely its wiring related.
Hydrastar says to check the condition of all of the wiring but also to make sure you are using 12 gauge wire at least, that the unit is grounding through the trailer to the tow vehicle, make sure unit is getting power, and make sure brake controller used is EOH compatible.
