Water Heater Replacement Recommendation for a Dometic GC6A-7E Model

Question:

I own a 1998 Sunnybrook Mobile Scout. The hot water heater is GC6A-7E, electric/propane. I need a replacement. The propane is not hooked up to the heater due to a leak in the lines. Therefore I need an electric heater. Thank you.

I recommend using the Dometic RV Water Heater # DMC74FR for your application as it's the best fit as far as dimensions and specs go. This uses both gas and electric for operation so you'll need to get your propane leak fixed (which you'd want to do anyways). Unfortunately I don't know of any pure electric water heaters for an RV so if you want to use a water heater you need to fix that leak.

If you aren't sure where the leak is you should be able to use a soapy water test to figure it out. Fill a spray bottle with soapy water and spray joints and connections with the solution. When you open up the propane to that line you should see bubbles form where the leak is at. If you aren't comfortable working on propane lines then you'll want to ask someone with experience to check it out for you.

Attached is a review video of this water heater for you to check out.
