Installation of Trailer Tail Light Kit # TL5RK
Question:
I have never done this before and am also new to wiring/electrical and have 2 questions: 1. when I hook up the side marker lights, do I just cut one of the wires I think the brown? that runs back to the tail light, then expose each end, and connect both ends to the marker light wire with a connector? If so, why were only 4 connectors supplied instead of 6? 2. since these are submersible, does it matter if the tail light connections I used the connectors that were supplied go in the water? cause theyre just back there outside the tail light box b/c the wires coming out of the tail light box were already cut to about 6inch long. Or, can I put the connections back up inside the each tail light box then run the long wires out of each box, so no connections are exposed? thank you very much for your help.

To answer the second question first, the lights are submersible meaning water can drain out. You will want to seal up the electrical connections as best as possible. Heat shrink tubing works well. You can also coat them in liquid electrical tape, # SWC50122.
For the side marker lights you would splice the power wire into the running light wire using a quick splice connector. Because this is a wishbone harness (it has 2 running light wires, one for each side) you would really only need 2 quick splice connectors. The tail light wires can connect using a wire nut or butt connector and then sealed up.
I have included a link to a video showing a typical installation of a similar kit that should help you.
