How to Install Servo RS Self-Tensioning Snow Tire Chains Easier on 2022 Mazda 3 with 215/45R18 Tires
Question:
Hi, I just tried these tire chains on my 2022 Mazda 3 hatchback with tire size 215/45-R18 and they were a very tight fit. It basically came down to the last step when I tried to connect the last red hook to the chain link. It was about 1/4 inch short, even if the tensioner loosened all the way. I tried adjusting the tire chains to get them closer but it wasnt enough. I finally got them to work by driving forward on the chain a little, which gave me just enough slack to connect them. I watched both of the videos on your site and there seems to be enough slack to make the final connection even without having to drive forward. Are these chains supposed to be a tight fit on this particular tire size? Thanks in advance.

When you installed the pewag Servo RS Self-Tensioning Snow Tire Chains # PWRS74 on your 2022 Mazda 3 215/45R18 tires did you loosen up the self-tensioning device? If you check out the 7:00 minute mark of the linked video you'll see where we press a button to provide a LOT of slack to make that final connection. Once that connection is made then you'll press the button to activate the self-tensioning feature.
Your tire size if one of the largest fits for this chain so it makes sense the the initial installation will be stretching the limits a bit of the chain, but it should install without you having to roll the vehicle either way.
