It's never a bad idea to enhance the suspension on a vehicle used to pull a trailer as the heavier the trailer, the more the rear end of the vehicle will sag which has an affect on braking, stability, handling and much more. I recommend the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs part # SSR-210-47 for a 2006 Nissan Xterra since they are very easy to install and have a much better ride than like replacements due to the progressive spring design. These will do a great job of providing extra support while towing or hauling so you don't run into issues like the above.
