Charge Line Kit for a 2002 Chevy Silverado Being Flat Towed

Question:

Im flat towing a 2002 automatic 4wd chevy silverado LT 5.3cid. When I crank the truck it cranks for approximately 5-10 seconds before it fires up, after that initial run, it goes back to normal starts,it fires right up, What could be causing this hard start?

It sounds like you're almost completely draining your battery when you are flat towing your 2002 Chevy Silverado. The lights and supplemental braking system are slowly draining it on your trip. Once you get it started the alternator is recharging your battery and its fine. This will eventually kill your battery though.

I recommend installing the Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit for Towed Vehicles item # RM-156-25. This kit will maintain the battery charge in your Silverado while it is being towed to your destination.

I have linked an installation video below that will show you how to install the charge line.
