Surge Brake and Electric Brake Controller Compatibility

Question:

I recently had an electric brake controller installed in my 05 tundra to tow my wifes horse trailer with electric brakes. I am in the process of installing kodiak disc brakes to my boat trailer,all new wiring, titan surge actuator w/ reverse lockout and all new Optronics led trailer lights.Im using a flat 4 wire harness and have added a center pin to the round 7 wire adapter to connect to the backup lights to activate the solinoid. Im concerned about the compatibility with an electric brake controller with my boat trailer system. Under the tundra hood there is a small fuse box with a 30 amp fuse labeled elictric brake controller. My question is, do I need to pull that fuse to incapacitate the controller for use with the boat or is it ok to use as is? Thank you,

You will not have any compatibility issues between the brake controller and the surge actuator. The reason is because the brake controller will not be used in any way with the surge actuator. The brake output circuit will basically dead-end and not go anywhere on your trailer so you would not have to worry about it in any way.

The trailer basically will do all the braking by itself between the surge actuator and the disc brakes. You would not need to remove any fuses either to prevent the brake controller from functioning with your boat trailer.
