If the fitting on your 500-lb propane tank is the same as the fitting on your 20-lb tank, then I recommend checking out the:

-Camco Replacement Propane Extension Hose - Male and Female Throwaway Cylinders # CAM59043.

This hose is a 12' long hose and has a 1"-20 fitting on either side to fit to both your tanks.
