Can MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent w/ 12V Fan & Powered Lift Run on 10 Amp Circuit

Question:

I am going to install a MaxxFan 700K onto my Winnebago 1706 Micro Minnie. I have come across two different photos of this unit and am wondering if I might be missing something. Note the 3+" base on your unit! My assumption is both units are the same but your photo shows the inside collar piece. However, your description describes a "Remote Power Lift" and your photo shows separation at the bottom (top section, not bottom section) as opposed to the second photo that does not make this as clear. Question 1: Is there a "Power Lift" unit that is different from a "Manual Lift 7000K" that would explain what I am seeing? Regarding Installation (In your opinion please - no liability implied) Question 2: To install, my intention and only option is to tap into 12V wiring to a group of LED overhead lights. These lights are run on 16 gauge wiring to a 10 amp circuit on short wiring runs (17 ft trailer box). I run one, maybe two LED lights on this circuit at a time max. I am purchasing the MAXXFAN 7000K in part due to its low current usage across all 10 speeds. In your opinion or others at your company, will this work? My research implies each LED light uses (.17 - .42 amp) and the 7000K fan uses (.17a at speed 1 to 2.66a at speed 10) - albeit general descriptions for fans state 5 amps max). This appears to be plenty of overhead for this installation. Any thoughts? Of course, Winnebago denies all liability and refuses to discuss the matter with me. And the trailer was not pre-wired for a fan. Question 3: Do you or others have any knowledge that would indicate MAXXAIR 7000K struggles running on 12V RV power consistently and might required some form of 12V regulator in front? I am using two 6V batteries in series and have always found this setup to be very reliable. Please respond. I will be purchasing next month but only get one shot at getting this right. Thank-you

Happy to help, and the photo you are referencing (below) is of the MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent with the garnish (collar piece). It does have a power lift, and the separation you are seeing is just the vent open. So yes, there is a power lift unit different from a manual lift. The power lift is the 700k you mentioned, and is available in both white and black:

- White: MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent w/ 12V Fan, Thermostat, and Remote - Powered Lift # MA00-07000K

- Black: MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent w/ 12V Fan, Thermostat, and Remote - Powered Lift # MA00-07500K

In regards to the installation, you are more than fine running it on a 10 amp circuit. The vents require just a 5 amp circuit like you mentioned, and with the miniscule power draw of your LED lights there will not be any issue tapping into the wiring.

As for the 700K struggling to run on 12 volts consistently, that is not something we have heard with any type of regularity. I could only find one instance of that being mentioned, so there is not a regulator required. With the small amount of power draw your lights and the fan use, I am confident you will not have any issue.

The only other thing I wanted to mention, regarding installation, is that the vent comes with the install hardware, but you will need sealant, the TremPro 644 Silicone Sealant # 0160297.
