Engine Oil Filter Relocation Kit for a Yanmar 4JH3-TE Motor

Question:

I just received relocation kit # D15748 in the mail. I ordered it for my Yanmar 4JH3-TE 75 hp Turbo diesel marine engine after watching your video. I just noticed that the video is for a Yanmar 4JH3E engine. I am located in Canada and wont get to fit it until the spring. Could you confirm that I have in fact ordered the correct model. Our marina has about 400 boats in it. Relocating the filter was the topic of conversation a lot this past summer. Can you also support other models of marine engines? We dont seem to have much in the way of expertise. If so, I will pass your contact info to the local marine shop and fellow boat owners.

The oil filter relocation kit that you ordered, # D15718, will fit engine threads (where the filter goes) of 20mm x 1.5mm. The threads for the new filter are 3/4 inch -16. This means you will need to use a different filter, PH8A (short filter) or PH16 (taller filter). I found out that your Yanmar motor and the 4JH3-E take the same oil filter which means the kit you ordered will work just fine.

The great thing about these kits is that they are not entirely specific to any motor manufacturer. You just have to select the kit that has the correct fittings for the motor. So we could most definitely fit many of the boats in your marina given enough information.

For example other owners could go with a kit that has multiple engine thread sizes, # D15748. It fits engine threads 3/4-16, 13/16-16, 18mm x 1.5mm, 20mm x 1.5mm, and 22mm x 1.5mm. Filter threads is the same 3/4-16 as the kit you purchased. It has 3 o-rings: 2-1/2, 2-3/4, and 3-1/2.
