Question:

hank you for the suggestions. I do have a Roadmaster Tow bar and a Brake Buddy. Is the diode wiring kit available with a straight cord instead of the coiled one?

The Blue Ox Base Plate Kit # BX2643 is designed to pretty much fit all models of the 2011 Ford Taurus so you'll be good to use it with your specific model.

If you haven't already picked out all of your other flat towing components then I have the following recommendations:

Tow Bar: etrailer SD Non-Binding Tow Bar for Blue Ox Base Plates # e47ZR. This tow bar will connect to your baseplate and comes with safety cables included so you won't have to purchase them separately.

Tow Bar Wiring Kit: Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267. This will transfer the light signals from your motorhome through the tail lights on your Taurus.

Braking System: Brake Buddy Select 3 Portable Supplemental Braking System # HM39524. This portable system offers proportional breaking and comes with a remote that will alert you when the brakes are depressed in your Taurus as well as allow you to alter your brake settings. It also comes with a charge line kit for your vehicle so that the battery can stay charged while you tow.

The only Roadmaster baseplate for a 2011 excludes the SHO so if you wanted to use your Roadmaster tow bar you would need to get adapters to connect to the Blue Ox baseplate I recommended. These adapters can vary depending on the specific tow bar so I'll need to know the model you have to confirm the correct adapter. As for the diode wiring, you can use the Roadmaster 4-Diode Universal Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles - 7-Wire to 6-Wire Straight Cord # RM-152-98146-7 for a straight cord.
