Recommended 7-Way Upgrade Kit For A 2002 Ford F-250 With A Factory 4-Flat

Question:

I have a new-to-me 02 F250 XLT that Im trying to toe with but I dont think its setup for it. This is my 5th/6th super duty and everyone that Ive had there was a simple plug in for the trailer brake controller under the dash and a 7 pin in the rear bumper, this truck had the cutout for the 7 pin in the hitch but only had a 4 flat wired in, and I also dont see the factory trailer brake plug in ANYWHERE under the dash ???????. Is it possible I have to wire everything from scratch, and if so, how and what do I need?

If you're trying to just add a 7-way to your 2002 Ford F-250, and you've already got a 4-flat then you'll just need the:

-Curt Trailer Connector Adapter # C57672.

This adapter will plug into your existing 4-flat, and will splice to your battery, brake output wire, and 12v power.

There is not going to be a plug under your dash for this to splice into, but the good news is you do not need to wire everything from scratch since you've already got a 4-pole.

As far as plugging in your actual brake controller, like the Dexter Predator DX2 Trailer Brake Controller # 58-8 with the custom wiring harness # 3035-S goes, you're going to need to just plug the plug end of your brake controller's harness into the 6-prong grey rectangular plug underneath the dash to the left of the steering column.

If you still can't find it, then I recommend checking out a wireless brake controller like the Curt Echo Wireless Trailer Brake Controller # C51180 instead.

This brake controller won't require that you splice any wires, will plug into any 7-way trailer receptacle, and is controlled via the Echo Smart Control App.

Attached is an installation video on a 200 Ford F-250 for you to check out, and the instructions are listed in PDF form as well.
