What Is Reason Behind Temperature Range of the Thermaheat RV Holding Tank Heaters

Question:

On at 45, off at 67 doesnt seem to make sense to me. I would think on at a lower temp, such as 35, and off at something more like 45, maybe 50 would still keep tank from freezing, yet reduce run time and burden on batteries when boondocking without shore power. Can the temps be adjusted?

Thermaheat did test for what the best temperature range should be for the ThermaHeat RV Holding Tank or Step Heater Pad w/ Thermostat # 277-000164. The problem with having it come on lower than 45 is that by the time the water gets to 35 and the heater comes on it potentially could allow the water on the far side of the tank to start freezing slightly since this heats from the outside of one side of the tank. This also helps keep water in any lines that are much further away warm enough too as that area would end up much colder due to distance from heat source.

The thermostat of this is not adjustable.
