Can Brake Controller Cause Transmission Problems on 2007 Toyota Sienna

Question:

I installed a break controller on my 2007 Toyota Sienna. It been several years and I recently had an error code come up regarding the torque converter. My transmission servicer claims that the break controller is feeding back and causing the issue. Have you heard of any issues like that. I checked the break switch and there is only one wire there that gets power when the break peddle is pressed. Thanks for your help

I've never heard of this being the case and brake controllers, like the Prodigy P3 # 90195, are designed to protect the vehicle wiring.

The easiest thing to do in this situation is to unplug the wiring from the back of the controller and see if that resolves the issue. If it does then something seriously wrong has happened to the brake controller but if you still get that error code then it just proves the point that the brake controller isn't cause that kind of issue.

The cold side of the brake pedal is supposed to basically just act as a trigger to the brake controller so there isn't really a "draw" on that circuit.
