Converting a 4-Way Flat to a 7-Way On a 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee For Towing a RV Travel Trailer
Question:
Hello, I have a 2016 grand Cherokee WITHOUT the factory tow package. I currently have a hitch and a Curt 4 pin wiring harness with a hot lead wired to the battery. I am purchasing an RV and need a seven pin plug for a brake controller. What is my easiest solution and the one that is NOT the most expensive.

As you already have the functioning 4-way on your 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee you will need the 7-Way RV Upgrade Kit # ETBC7L to connect to your 4-way. This kit also includes wiring to run to your battery similar to the wiring needed for your 4-way. This additional wiring will power the charge line circuit which will also allow you to use the Curt Echo Trailer Brake Controller # C51180. This controller does not require any additional wiring inside your Jeep and will allow you to control the brakes from your smart phone using the Curt Echo app.
If you prefer a in cab controller you will need the Universal Installation Kit # ETBC7. This contains an additional wire that will be used for the output wire for a Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller # 90195.
