Troubleshooting OL Error Code of Prodigy P2 with Intermittent Connection

Question:

Hi- Great install instructions on your site! I have a 2008 Chevy Suburban and using your guide I installed a Tekonsha Prodigy P2. However, the display is acting strange and often shows that its braking even when I dont have a trailer attached, and when I do have my trailer attached I get a OL error message after about 15 minutes. Ive been told that means overload condition, which can be due to a ground wire issue. Do you agree? If so can you please tell me where the white ground wire attaches to the frame in my Suburban so that I can trace it to look for damage or whatever? Any other suggestions? Thanks!

Since you said that it sometimes shows that a trailer is connected when one isn't that would indicate to me that you have corrosion on the pins of your 7-way as this is the most common reason for this. Try taking sandpaper to all of the pins of your 7-ways and that should help. This can also cause the OL error code as well since corrosion can cause a short to ground. This will be on the 5:00 pin of the 7-way.
