How To Choose Correct Ball Mount for Vehicle and Trailer with 7" Rise Needed
Question:
I am looking at purchasing a tear camper. Weight is well with in my towing capacity. Height is my concern. Vehicle hitch sits at 10 inches off the ground. Tear hitch sits at 17 inches. Is that a safe distance to make up with a riser or am I barking up the wrong tree? Thanks you for your time!

In order to choose the correct trailer ball mount you'll need to measure both the vehicle and trailer. On the vehicle, measure the distance from the ground to the top inside edge of the receiver tube and then subtract this from the distance between the ground and bottom of the trailer coupler. The distance between the two measurements will be your rise/drop requirement. I recommend an adjustable ball mount like the B&W Tow & Stow 2-Ball Mount part # BWTS10040B since it allows you to use different trailer and vehicle combos. I have also attached a list of our other ball mount options below if the above won't work for you.
