Availability of Locking Pins for Curt Channel Style Adjustable Ballmount # C45900

Question:

Please provide the width of the Channel where the ball mounts install so I can determine the proper length to facilitate locking pins in lieu of the standard pins. Also, is there a locking pin set that is rated for and will facilitate a 14,000 LB load? The Rapid Hitch Trailer Hitch Lock and Adjustment Pin Lock Set, # AM3492 recommended is only rated up to 10,000 LBs

I pulled a piece of this ball mount from inventory to take the measurement you requested. The internal width of the channel on the Curt Channel Style Adjustable Ballmount # C45900 is 3-1/8 inches.

Please note that we do offer a locking pin set from Curt that is intended for use with this specific ball mount; the pin set is part # C23556. This includes two 5/8-inch diameter locking pins, each with 2 keys. I confirmed with my technical contact at Curt that use of this pin set will retain the full capacity of the ball mount.
