Longest Weight Distribution Shank to Clear Rear Mounted Spare of Vehicle

Question:

I installed the road armor bumper with spare tire on my 2005 Ford Excursion. My trailer sits too close to the spare to hitch the trailer without needed to take the spare tire off. I need a hitch system that can be extended to provide more room for the spare and the trailer. The trailer weighs max 9,500 lbs and I’d like a hitch system that can’t take at least 1000lbs in tongue weight.

Since you have a weight distribution system your best option is going to be to go with a longer shank to give you additional clearance. For that the option we have is the Equal-i-zer part # EQ90-02-4600 which is 18 inches long from end to end and would do a great job giving you the additional clearance you are looking for to clear the rear spare.
