The Prodigy RF, # TK94FR, can be used with any vehicle but there have been some pairing issues with it and German manufactured vehicles like the 2004 Volkswagen Touareg. Customers have found that the RF unit has trouble pairing with its handheld unit on these vehicles but the reason why is sort of a mystery.
One way that people are able to get it to work is to park a different vehicle right next to the Touareg and connect the trailer and RF to it. Then they pair the handheld unit and then just switch vehicles.
Another possible fix is to use the 7-Way to 7-Way adapter, # C57003. The theory is that if there is not enough power draw from the RF unit on the trailer then the VW will not recognize its plugged in and it will not pair. This adapter creates more power draw to negate this issue.
Once it is paired though it does work well. The best method should you have pairing issues would be the park another vehicle next to the Touareg method.
