Do Felt Pads Need to Be Installed on Yakima SweetRoll Kayak Carrier

Question:

Hi - I see felt pads for the Yakima Sweetroll kayak cradles. Can I ask, does the Sweetroll need these felt pads - do the rear cradles with the integrated roller wheels have grippy rubber surfaces that would work better with these felt pads? Im thinking of buying the Sweetroll but wanted to know how it functions with/without the felt pads. Lastly, are these felt pads made by Yakima? Thanks

The Yakima SweetRoll Kayak Carrier w/ Tie-Downs # Y04074 has enough of a grip surface that you don't necessarily need the Felt Pads Y08004080 (discontinued). They just provide a softer surface for the hull of your boat in case that's what you'd rather have. So it really just depends on what you'd prefer to have your boat sitting on.
