Recommended Weight Distribution Hitch for a 10,000 lbs Travel Trailer

Question:

I have a question about the equalizer WDH. I have a 2022 Ford 350 super duty and I’m gonna be pulling 2023 Jayco 284BHOK. GVWR is 10k, dry tongue weight is around 930 pounds. My trailer has the option for a generator just behind the propane tanks. I suspect I’ll be around 1200 pounds-ish tongue weight fully loaded up or a little more. I would like to get the 16k pound rated equalizer hitch because my truck can take a 2 1-2” shank. If I buy a hitch with a rating bigger than I might need, will this affect anything or will it be ok ? Thanks

The 16,000 lbs Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System w/ 4-Point Sway Control item # EQ64FR will work great for your 2023 Jayco 284BHOK trailer. It has a 1,200 lbs - 1,600 lbs tongue weight range and I bet once you get fully loaded you will be well within that range.

So long as your tongue weight is within this range you won't have to be worried about having a system rated too high for your trailer.

This hitch comes with a 2-1/2" shank will give you a maximum 6" rise and a 3" drop. It has 7-1/2" of height adjustment along the shank.

I also recommend the Classic Accessories Tow Bar and Weight Distribution Tote item # CA80113. This heavy duty bag is perfect for storing your weight distributing hitch. It is 36" x 11" Wide x 8" Tall and has padding that prevents damage to your hitch and prevents dings to your vehicle's cargo area from shifting gear.
