How Does the Truma LevelCheck Propane Tank Sensor Really Work

I looked at your product description, but Im still not sure how this product would work. How does it read the gas level just by placing it up against the tank? If you could further explain it, Id appreciate it! Thank you.

The Truma LevelCheck Propane Tank Sensor part # TR77VR uses ultrasound technology to check the propane level, the same technology used in doctors offices for newborns. Simply turn the device on and run it up and down the tank, the light will turn green at the line it detects propane.
