Will Short Roof Adapter for SportRack Semi-Custom Rack On 2003 Toyota Echo Coupe Increase Spread

Question:

Im planning to purchase SR1003 for my 2003 toyota echo 2 door coupe. The bike rack I plan to use requires a minimum roof bar range distance between 2 poles of 19-5/8. Looking at the user manual fit guide for SR1003 - it recommends a spread of 13-3/4. Does this mean I must also purchase and install the short roof adapter part SR1116? If I install the adapter on my toyota echo, would it reach a bar range of 23-3/4inch as advertised?

The Short-Roof Adapter for SportRack Semi-Custom Roof Racks part # SR1116 is required for the SportRack Semi-Custom Roof Rack for Naked Roofs part # SR1003 on a 2003 Toyota Echo Coupe. It will expand the crossbar spread to 23-3/4".
