Dimensions of Draw-Tite Heavy Duty Ball Mount part # 4280
Question:
What is width at the ball mount hole? Ive got a Thule bike rack that is designed for step mount or a hitch extender - the width of the mount of the bracket on the Thule is 2-5/8, and Im trying to find an extender that it will fit.

The platform that the ball mounts to is 3 inches wide by 7/8 inches thick. The shank that s into the hitch is 2X2 inches square. The distance from the center of the hitch pin hole to the back of the ball platform is 3-5/16 inches. If the Thule rack you have is designed to clamp around the ball mount and has a maximum clamp of 2-5/8x2-5/8 inches, it should fit around this ball mount, but you need to measure your hitch. Measure from the center of the hitch pin hole on your hitch to the face of the receiver. Subtract that from the 3-5/16 inch measurement, and make sure the clamp on the Thule rack will fit in that space. I would tend to think this ball mount is not long enough for you.
If you need more length, you may want to look at Draw-Tite part # 4284. Essentially the same part, just longer. All the measurements are the same except 4284 measures 6-3/4 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the back of the the ball platform.
