Can You Mix and Match Dexter and Kodiak Disc Brake Parts for a 8,000 Lb Axle
Question:
Your tech person said that rotor cap KR13858e or similar will fit onto Idler hub 00839992 and is compatible with the Kodiak disc brake system. We do not find this to be accurate. There is a 1/2 discrepancy in depth. What does work for a 2 part rotor/hub system which is preferred because rotors wear out much oftener?.?

I do have an option for you but mixing and matching different idler hubs, rotors, and disc brake calipers can be a hassle as they are not always compatible. This is why I recommend going with a complete kit with parts all from the same manufacturer like the Kodiak Disc Brake Kit part # K2HR89DE. This kit has a one piece hub and rotor design which I like best because they are easier to install and minimize the risk of warping the rotor. There is a benefit to two piece in that you can change parts if one fails but we don't typically see many people wear out the rotor as it would take several thousand miles of hard breaking to do so.
