Trailer Brakes Engaged On Truck When Kenworth Trailer Is Not Hooked Up
Question:
I have a 2019 Kenworth. The direc link was installed and working fine. Now my brakes are staying applied after I come to a stop wether I have a trailer hooked up or not. Also the white ground wire is showing power to it. When the brake control is disconnected my brakes on the truck are working fine. This seems to be an intermittent problem, the red wire has power when brakes applied and when released the power is still there for about 30 second or so. I’ve checked all wires for brakes or corrosion to find nothing. Have any ideas as to what the problem could be. Thanks

It sounds like the red wire that is coming from the brake switch to the brake controller could be hooked up to the wrong circuit. Use The Hook Probe Circuit Tester # PTW2993, to find the wire coming out of the back of the brake pedal switch under the dash that is hot (12 volts) when the brake is applied and cold (no power) when the brakes are not applied.
It could also be that the wire that leads to the battery or fuse block used to power the trailer accessories could be hooked up to the wrong terminal. If this is the problem you will need to rewire the connector using the circuit tester mentioned above and make sure that the wiring is wired the same for vehicle and trailer.
I attached a review video link below.
