Aspect Ratio of the Kenda 4.80-12 Bias Trailer Tire with 12 inch White Wheel # AM30620

Question:

HI my name is Gary, and I am a student at Auburn University. For my Computer aided design class we have a project to design a fold-able trailer. We decided to use the part AM30660 as our trailer rims and tires. We need to model the rims and tires into solid-works. The rim was simple to make, but in order to make an accurate representation of the tire I need to know the aspect ratio of the tire. The only dimension of the tire given is the 4.80-12, which does not include the aspect ratio. If there was a way for you to provide me with this information that would be very helpful. Thank your for your time.

The overall tire size of the 4.80-12 tire size is 20.5 inches, if you subtract the 12 inches of rim diameter you are left with 8-1/2 inches of sidewall total. Which would be 4-1/4 inches above the top and bottom of the rim.

Check out the picture I attached that shows these dimensions.

The style of this tire size is considered numeric. In Numeric style, when the first number ends in a zero, the aspect ratio is 92 percent.

The section width of the tire is 4.9 also.
