Roof Rack For 2005 Jeep Wrangler TJ Hard Top

Can I get a rack to hold two kayaks on my 2005 Jeep Wrangler? The front area has rain gutters, but the rear hard top is smooth and without attachment points. Weight would be approximately 100 lbs.

Thanks for the photo, and there is a roof rack that will fit your 2005 Jeep Wrangler TJ hard top without rain gutters in the rear. It will require drilling into the roof to mount the feet, but that's the only way to attach the rack. What you will need is the following:

- Thule SquareBar Evo Crossbars # TH712500

- Rapid Gutter Feet for Thule Crossbars - Rain Gutters - 5" Tall # TH65BJ
or
- Rapid Gutter Feet for Thule Crossbars - Rain Gutters - 8" Tall # TH33ZR

You can use whichever height allows the proper clearance; it is likely the 5 inch tall feet but if you want a lot of height over your roof you can go with the 8 inch tall feet.

This will give you a way to mount kayaks, either directly to the 60 inch bars, or with a carrier like the J-Style Kayak Carrier # e98878.
