Weight Distribution Recommendation for Dodge Ram Towing 4,400 lb Trailer

Question:

Weight distribution hitch versus a tension bar I have a 2019 Dodge ram tradesmen, 4 x 4, 1500With a 5.7 hemi engine. I have the tow package. I am looking to purchase a travel trailer which weighs 4400 pounds. Would I need a weight distribution hitch, or would a simple tension bar be enough?

Any time the weight of the trailer is more than half the weight of the tow vehicle a weight distribution system is recommended over just a sway control setup. So for your travel trailer weight of 4,400 lbs I would recommend the Reese Strait Line part # RP66083 which has a tongue weight range of 400-800 lbs and also has the best sway control at fighting sway before it starts.
