Best Way to See Behind You When Backing Up Enclosed Trailer

Question:

Someone told me they mounted lights on the rear corners of their enclosed trailer, to help them see where the end of trailer was when backing up. They described the lights as sticking out from the surface of the trailer a small amount maybe to be in line with the towing mirrors?. Have you heard of this? Do you know of any products that would work for this purpose?

Expert Reply:

I have not heard of lights sticking out to the sides of the rear of an enclosed cargo trailer, and we don't have any lights that would do that, so the best way to see what is behind you when backing up is a simple backup camera. It doesn't have to be anything hardwired, and in fact the one I like the most is a simple magnetic mount:

- Rampage Wireless Backup Camera for Smartphone or Tablet - iOS # RA7710

You'll just pop on the # RA7710 wherever you like on the rear of your enclosed cargo trailer and use your iOS (Apple) device as the monitor to see behind you. This is a simple way to do it that doesn't require lights sticking out from the side of your enclosed trailer.
