Splicing in a 7-Way Trailer Connector to Trailer Tail Light Kit # TL5RK

Question:

I am trying to wire a trailer so it will work with my 7 way plug. I bought the 7 way plug and a universal light kit from you guys. So what I want to do is splice the 7 way plug into the 4 way female end so that the 4 way male end coming from the lights will work. But it didnt and I was wondering as to why that wouldnt work? I completed the circuit. Including grounding all the white wires. If you could give me any feed back that would be great. P.S. there is no battery to connect the black wire to on the 7 way plug to or trailer brakes to connect the blue wire to. I wasnt sure if that was going to be an issue?

The issue is that on the 7-Way you bought the wire colors and functions do not match the 4-Way in the light kit. On the 7-Way it has the following wire colors and functions:

White is ground
Red is left turn/brake lights and will connect to the yellow wire on the light kit
Brown is right turn and brake and will connect to the green wire on the light kit
Green is tail lights and will connect to the brown wire on the light kit
Blue is for trailer brakes
Black is for 12 volt power
Yellow is for reverse lights

On the 7-Way you will ground its white wire to the trailer frame. The lights ground through the mounting hardware so there should be no corrosion at the installation point. Also, on a dump trailer, the ground can get interrupted. Running jumper ground wires from the light ground to the main trailer connector ground will help.
