Base Plate Availability for a 1996 Ford Ranger Splash 5-Speed
Question:
Your catalogue says the kit is available only for 93 and 94 Splash. It would seem the frame is the same for the Splash as the other Rangers of 1996, which are listed. My truck has no running lights and has a 5-speed manual transmission. Will the 355-3 kit fit it? Thanks.

I believe I have a solution for you, but I checked with Roadmaster and they cannot confirm a base plate fit for your 1996 Ford Ranger Splash because they have only had a chance to fit the the Splash models from 93-94.
I checked with Blue Ox and they confirmed that their base plate kit part # BX2117 would work on your 96 Splash Ranger.
A popular tow bar with Ranger owners is the Blue Ox Alpha Tow Bar # BX7380. This is a non-binding tow bar that will be much easier to use than most. This tow bar comes with safety cables also. Check out the install video I attached for this product.
For tow bar wiring check out the FAQ article I attached on how to pick out the best system based on your needs.
For braking I would recommend the Roadmaster Even Brake System # RM-9400, this is a proportional braking system that will apply the brakes of your Ranger in proportion to how the tow vehicles brakes are being applied.
You will also want to check the vehicle owners manual for additional information on flat towing the vehicle. Some vehicles require an axle disconnect, drive line disconnect, transmission lube pump, or free wheeling hubs in order to be flat towed.
