Recommended 7-Way Connector and Brake Controller for a 2002 Toyota Tundra w/ 4-Flat

Question:

Hello, I have a 2002 Toyota Tundra and it has a factory tow package but has the 4 pin flat plug. I want to install a 7 pin plug and controller to operate trailer brakes. Can you please recommend what I need? Thank you

To add a 7-way connector to your 2002 Toyota Tundra you will need the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller - 7-Way RV and 4-Way Flat - 10 Gauge Wires item # ETBC7. The kit includes a pre-wired 7- and 4-way trailer connector that mounts easily at the rear of your vehicle with an included bracket. This kit is designed for use on a vehicle with an existing 4-way flat trailer connector and plugs directly into it.

I recommend the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller item # RED24FR. This is a proportional brake controller that will activate your trailer's brakes when your Tundra decelerates or stops. It has a unique installation method where the only visible portion of the controller is the nickel sized control knob. The main unit can be mounted in any position underneath or below your dash.

Since your Tundra does not have the 7-way connector you will most likely need the Universal Wiring Harness for Redarc Tow-Pro Trailer Brake Controllers item # RED69FR to complete your installation.

I have linked an installation video below.
