Solution for Finding Stoplight Circuit of 2012 Chevy Colorado for Brake Controller

Question:

2012 chevy colorado single cab, rwd, 3.7v6 I have the trailer wiring conversion kit so my trailer lights work on my 7 pin connector. I have a Tekonsha 80500 brake controller. When I slide the brake lever the brakes work fine on the trailer. The issue Im having is the brake switch wire says to connect to the cold side of the switch. power when brake pedal is pressed Both of my brake switches have constant power and give ground when the brake pedal is pressed. How do I get a brake signal without running a wire all the way back to the brake lights?
