Initial Settings to Use with Curt Echo Mobile Brake Controller

Question:

What should be the starting settings with a Curt wireless brake controller? When it was bought they suggested 50 and 5 as a setting. The more I drove and stopped, the grabbier it got. Right now, 10 and 1 offer no stopping, driving 25mph. If I activate the trailer brakes on the app, it does not stop or slow down my trailer and vehicle. Any other combination of numbersbrakes the trailer very hard, be it 10 and 7 or 50 and 4, or 5 and 6, any setting that stops the car and trailer, feels the same. The brakes on the trailer were checked and I was told they are set properly. It is confusing to know if 50 is higher more braking than 60 or 40 is higher. This either works, HARD, or not at all.

Curt doesn't give great instructions for initial adjustment of the Curt Echo Mobile # C51180 but I'll see if I can help. First you need to set the output which is the first number. Drive 25 mph and apply brakes and if the brakes are too weak increase this number, if they lock up lower it. Once you get it right before lock up that's a good setting. Next adjust the sensitivity using same 25 mph method. If they grab really quick and hard lower sensitivity. If it feels like they aren't coming on hard enough increase it.
