Do I need to balance a 12 trailer tire and wheel?
Question:
I want to buy a trailer tire on a wheel to avoid the hassle of dealing with a tire store. Can I bu a wheel and tire that have been balanced?

Expert Reply:
Trailer tires and wheels are not balanced before shipment as the weights could potentially fall off during shipment. Also, trailer tires and wheels, especially of this small size, do not typically need to be balanced and most tire shops don't have the equipment to do so.
While you will likely be fine installing Taskmaster 5.30-12 Bias Trailer Tire with 12" Silver Mod Wheel - 5 on 4-1/2 - Load Range C # TA26RR without any form of balancing, you could go the extra mile by adding Counteract Tire Balancing Beads Single Pack for Trailers - 4 oz # CA66VR to the tire. This is a simple process in which you add tire balancing beads through the valve stem of the tire and it automatically balances as it rotates.
