Replacement 28-1/2" Slipper Spring for 4,100 Pound Karavan Boat Trailer With 6,000 Pound Axles
Question:
Leaf spring on karavan boat trailer broke. Boats dry weight is 3000 lbs, trailer capacity is 4100 lbs. axle capacity is 6000lbs. Spring is a slipper with hooked end , 1 3/4” wide, 28 1/2 long from eye center to end of hook, 1 leaf. I assume I should replace both sides. Do you have something for me

Helpful Expert Reply:
Leaf springs typically flatten over time so that 28-1/2" measurement was likely a bit shorter originally unless you already accounted for that. Although they probably didn't shorten a full 1-7/8" you will be able to use the 4-Leaf Slipper Spring w/ Hook End # SP-231275 as a replacement.
This slipper spring measures 26-5/8" long, 1-3/4" wide, and has a 5,000 lb capacity. I realize it does not match your axle capacity, but you're limited by the trailer capacity of 4,100 lbs so this is more than enough. Also yes, you want to replace both sides when replacing leaf springs.
