Question about Yakima crossbar length when installing a Yakima Slim Shady awning?

Good question but no, per Yakima there is not a minimum amount of space required beyond the Yakima rack's feet to install the SlimShady awning. The reason for that is the awning can attach either in front of or behind the feet of the rack, so a specific length of rack extension is not needed.
So you can use the SlimShady awning, and there are a couple different sizes to choose from:
- 8' Long x 8' Wide: Yakima SlimShady Awning # Y96VR
- 6-1/2' Long x 6-1/2' Wide: Yakima SlimShady Awning # Y36VR
