Hi. I purchased trailer wire kit for my GTI. Got it installed and the marker lights on the trailer dont work. Ive messed with all the grounds. Hook the trailer to my truck and all lights work. The marker lights get power that passes to tail lights. They work fine. Im stuck. Thanks

The first thing to do is take a look at your owner's manual to locate any trailer fuses or relays and ensure they are all there and in working order. If they are, in order to determine the specific problem you will need to purchase a circuit tester like # PTW2979 if you do not have one.
Test the connector on your vehicle after disconnecting it from your trailer. Check the wiring going into your harness from your to see if the wire is carrying the correct signal, and test to ensure that the signals are going into the converter box from the vehicle side. If the signal isn't coming into the converter box and at your harness, you know the wiring from your VW's lights was incorrect.
I have added a link below to a troubleshooting guide for you to check out as well that I highly recommend taking a look at.
