Do You Have to Pack Inner Bearing Using Bearing Buddy BB1980A-SS
Question:
How often is it recommended to remove the bearing buddy and repack the back/hub bearings?

Expert Reply:
You won't actually need to repack the bearings (either the inner or outer) when using the Bearing Buddy Bearing Protectors - Model 1980A-SS w/ Auto Check - Stainless Steel # BB1980A-SS.
When you use the Bearing Buddy Bearing Protectors # BB1980A-SS and add grease, it will lubricate both the inner and outer bearings, so as long as you keep it properly greased - the blue indicator ring sitting flush with the top of the cylinder - there is no need to repack the bearings.
The manufacturer says that with new bearings, seals, and Bearing Buddies, if you keep the grease level maintained, checking the bearings once every five years is more than enough.
