Tips for Soldering the Dutton-Lainson Electrical Quick Connect # DL24086

Question:

Any suggestions, I am having a very hard time attaching the end connectors to the wire n using the wire that came with my TW4000 winch. I am using rosin core solder I have tried two brands/guages, a 30-watt soldering iron. I have tried applying flux to the wire, and heating the connector with the wire in the socket. I can not get it to grab and stay in the socket once it cools. Feeling frustrated any ideas? Perhaps my technique is wrong however most of the utube rosin core videos refer to small electronic repairs. I have not had any problem soldering copper water pipes in the past.

Soldering can be tricky. I've found when the solder isn't grabbing to a surface it's because it's not heated up enough. If it's attaching to one surface but not the other that means one surface is hot enough but the other is not. So since you are having a hard time getting it to attach to the socket that would be where you'd need to apply more heat. If all else fails you might contact an electrician. Try this with the # DL24086.
