Recommended Air Bag System w/ Compressor for a 2004 Ford F-150 Pulling a 5th Wheel
Question:
Hey guys I have a 2004 6.0 short bed extended cab and a 2006 fifth wheel. I have been towing it for about ten years with no problem but have noticed the back s about 1.5 to 2 inches when lowering trailer onto hitch. My hitch weight is 1360. Do you think I need air bags for a hitch this light? I am asking as I retire next month and we will be on the road for months at a time instead of a week or so. Thanks for your help.

Yes, I highly recommend air bags for your 2004 Ford F-150. Air suspension will solve your squatting problems when connected to your 5th wheel trailer. The air bags will also add some comfort to your ride when you are not towing. The Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs item # F2250 will be the best option. The air bags reduce the strain on your rear suspension, increase safety, and compensate for uneven loads.
In order to adjust the air springs without using an air pump you will need to add an onboard air compressor like the Firestone Air Command II item # F2219. This is a dual path air compressor that will allow you to adjust the psi level in your air springs individually. This gives you the ability to compensate for off center loads like slide outs.
