Replacement 4-Way Trailer Connector with 5 Wires

Question:

I had to replace my trailers 4 way plug which was damaged, I purchased a new one, but the new one has only 4 wires total, white ground, brown tail light, yellow left turn, green right turn. My old connector had green, yellow and two brown wires plus a white ground on a four plug design, I cant get anything to work now.

Your old connector was what is called a wishbone harness. It has 2 brown wires both of which carry the running light circuit. This is so you do not have to run a jumper wire for running lights from one side of the trailer to the other. Both of the brown wires form the old wiring will need to connect to the brown wire on the new connector. Yellow is still left turn/brake lights and green is right turn and brake lights.

The other option is a wishbone harness to replace the wishbone harness you had. Harness # A35W42B is a wishbone harness. If you do not need the full 35 feet you can just cut off the part you do need and save the rest.
