Recommended Brake Controller For My 2005 Dodge Ram Pickup
Question:
My seven way plug shows constant power at the number 5 position. My brakes are weak only a slight slow down with the truck at idle, and the controller set up to 9. They worked last summer, stored inside during winter. Plug is clean and brakes are all new complete assemblies. Last year I could lock them up on number 4 setting empty trailer on loose dirt or grass. My controller might be about 18 yrs old. Any suggestions are appreciated.

With your brake controller being 18 years old and it having problems set up at 9 it sounds like your controller needs to be adjusted properly or you will just need to purchase a new controller.
I recommend The Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller # 90195 because it has an easy-to-read screen with lots of diagnostic info to eliminate any guesswork.
The P3 controller can automatically level when mounted within a 360-degree vertical range. The controller has 5 storable settings that let you customize the controller for multiple trailers, varying loads, or different drivers, it also has 3 boost levels that let you adjust initial braking power and aggressiveness.
The controller also has continuous diagnostic check which will alert you to any potential problems.
If you reach back out to me and let me know what your actual year make and model of your vehicle is I can provide you with the power towing wiring adapter for your vehicle that will attach to the P3 controller.
