Curt Trailer Hitch and Bike Rack Recommendations for a 2008 Toyota Sienna
Question:
Hi there I am looking to get a hitch and bike hitch rack for my 2008 Toyota Sienna. I am interested in the Swagman XTC4 but saw in your reviews that the Curt hitch is too short for the rack to fold up. Do you have a hitch that would work with the combo? If not do you have any other rack and hitch combo that you would recommend? I would prefer the tray rack option if possible. Thanks!

I have a solution that will enable you to carry 4 bikes on your 2008 Toyota Sienna that allows you to fold the bike rack up when not in use.
For a trailer hitch, I recommend the Curt # C13105. This hitch has a measurement from the center of the hitch pin hole to the outermost edge of the bumper of 4 inches. This hitch has the shortest distance available at this time. I have attached a brief installation video on a 2007 Sienna.
You are correct about the Swagman XTC4 # S64665 that you referenced not being able to fold up. The XTC4, when in the folded up position is also 4 inches which means that the two will collide and not work well.
I have also attached a FAQ article that gives some direction about choosing a bike rack that will clear your bumper.
The Yakima HoldUp # Y02443-2 has a folded up measurement of 7 inches which will work well on your vehicle. The nice feature of this bike rack is that it has the capability to carry only two bikes if you wish. This bike rack a detachable 2 bike add-on so on those days when you are not taking the kids you do not have to haul the entire rack either.
The HoldUp has a weight capacity of 4 bikes at 50 lbs per bike. This also has adjustable wheel trays to fit a wheelbase up to 48 inches.
An important feature of the Holdup is the locking mechanism. It comes with a locking hitch pin that not only secures the rack to your hitch receiver but is also works as an anti-wobble device. It also has a built in lock for your bikes.
