Troubleshooting No Power To 7-Way Trailer Socket On A 2010 Gulf Stream Voyager MH

Question:

My 2010 Gulf Stream Sun Voyager has no power to the live pin on the 7 way plug, preventing me from running a 12 volt outlet for the braking system. Could this be due to the fact that the previous owner installed a brake controller that I dont need to tow my 2013 Chevy Spark? How do I make the pin live again?

It could be a number of reasons why you are not getting power to your 7-way on your 2010 Gulf Stream Voyager motorhome.

The most most common cause is an insufficient or bad ground. But before you go digging around your wires, I recommend you first quickly check if a fuse has blown.

A blown fuse would also cause your 7-way to not function as the fuse blowing has restricted power to flow to that area.

If the fuse is blown, simply replace the fuse and check again for functionality.

If your fuse is fine, then it's going to be a wiring issue. From here, you're going to need to inspect your wiring for any tears, breaks, or frays, and replace if needed. You're also going to need to check your ground connection, and ensure that your ground is in a clean, bare metal place that is free of rust.

You'll also want to ensure that the connection to the frame is tight and not loose, as this would also cause your 7-way to not work properly.
